LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

I noticed that in [a recent] issue, a Christian Science lecturer is taken to task for referring to a healing of cancer by the application of Christian Science.

I agree with your commentator that accounts of healings of this kind should be kept modest and be used with wisdom; but not on that account should they be suppressed altogether.

Evidently on one occasion, our Lord felt others needed the encouragement of seeing what spiritual power could achieve, so he said to the one healed, "Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee" (Mark 5:19).

Healings wrought in this way are not miracles, but natural manifestations of the power of divine law to cast out fear and disease.
